Lya’s parents’ birthdays are only 5 days apart and they had a joint birthday celebration yesterday.
This is the cake that I did – with special legends to it. Bumble bees represent the men, flowers for the ladies, ladybird bugs for older grandsons, pink blossom for older granddaughters, caterpillars for underaged grandsons and small red blossoms for underaged granddaughters.
There are a few ladybird bugs, caterpillars & blossoms on the grass ‘just waiting’ to crawl up / grow on the tree – these are for future grandchildrens
I was told that her mom was so touched and refused anyone pulling the cake apart. She took the whole cake back home. She wants to keep them until the 13th – her husband’s birthday (awww….). I did not ask whether there was another cake for the party. I was touched by the story but I find it funny at the same time. Had a good laugh and I think Auntie Aminah is such a sweet person.
